If you are in the process of planning a wedding, party or some type of outdoors exhibition, it is very possible that you are considering whether or not you should hire a marquee.
If the event is to be held during the hot summer months, it is probable that your guests will want to spend some of their time outside, in the sunshine and a marquee is an excellent way to make the most of your outdoor space. A marquee or gazebo is a great place for guests to congregate, have a drink and generally socialise. If you are planning an outdoor exhibition, then you will definitely want to protect yourself and your goods from the weather and a gazebo or marquee will definitely help to make a good first impression, by making your stall look more presentable and professional.
The following is a top 10 list of tips, that you should think about when considering the hiring of a marquee.
- Research the style and type of marquee that you are looking for beforehand. Go on-line or look in magazines or publications. The right marquee can look stunning and can really add to an occasion. Make sure you know what type of marquee you want and have a budget in mind and stick to it.
- Try not to leave marquee hire to the last minute. In summer months, marquee hire is very popular. It is better to have your marquee arranged some months in advance. This is not excessive, as you do not want to be getting stressed days before the event, wondering where you will get a marquee from.
- Think about the amount of space you have available in the garden or area that you want to situate your marquee or gazebo on. Use a tape measure and work out the area that is suitable and mention this to the company that you intend to use when making enquiries. If you over estimate the amount of space that you have and the marquee arrives and it is too big, this may provide you with a problem that may ruin all of the planning that you have undertaken.
- Consider whether you need to hire some flooring for the marquee. It is better to be safe than sorry and to provide safe footing for guests.
- You may want to think about extra seating. Many hire companies will have seating that can be leased. It is important that your guests feel relaxed and comfortable when they are socialising, so having adequate seating is a necessity.
- Make sure that whichever venue you choose, there is access to running water and electricity. It may be difficult to use the marquee effectively without these necessities.
- If you are using different companies to provide different services, for example a caterers and a marquee company, then make sure they are aware of the relevant contact details. This way they can converse with one another if they need to, which will make the planning and execution of the event go a lot smoother.
- Ask friends, family or colleagues if they can recommend a company to you. It is always better to go with a recommendation and if someone else can vouch for a companies reliability and quality of service, this goes a long way. If you can not get any personal recommendations, then ask the marquee hire company for references or names of clients they may have worked with in the past.
- Relax and enjoy yourself on the day. Have faith that the marquee will look great and everyone will enjoy themselves. The more relaxed you are, the more relaxed your guests will be.
